Capitol Theater – More than Musicals
Living in Düsseldorf, the first thing that may come to mind when you think of Capitol Theater are events such as musicals and ballet. And for good reason – it’s a great place for theatrical performances.
But what you may not know is that it’s also an excellent concert venue. Recently we had the opportunity to attend the José González concert and had a great time, both before and during the show.
The lobby area is split into multiple large rooms and features several bars with comfy areas to hang out before the concert, and though the event was completely sold out it never felt too crowded. If you’re planning to attend a concert at Capitol Theater, we suggest arriving a little bit early to enjoy the atmosphere before the show begins. The colorful chandeliers and mix of modern and historic architecture make the whole area feel like a stylish lounge.
After relaxing for a while in the lobby, it was almost showtime so we made our way into the theater. It seats about 1,000 people, which is a nice size for a concert because you’re never too far from the action on stage.
Once the show began we were happy to hear that the acoustics are fantastic – the music completely filled the room and the reaction from the audience throughout the show was upbeat and fun. Overall, we had an awesome night and look forward to our next visit.
