Unterbilk has it all – creative workshops, charming cafés, great shops and delicious food. Here are our favorite Things to Do in Düsseldorf Unterbilk:

1. Relax & Enjoy

There are plenty of places to unwind in Unterbilk. For cold drinks on a nice day, head to the cool brick-lined courtyard at Seifenhorst. If you’d prefer a hot coffee instead, head to Kaffeepiraten. Its modern interior, drink selection and American style deserts (think brownies & cookies) are top notch. For something more traditional, check out Petit Rouge, a cozy French Café right around the corner.

2. Shop Local

Many of the shops in Unterbilk are independent, which gives them their own unique character.

Drop by Zaunkönig for impressive leather products handcrafted in the attached workshop. After, be sure to explore Wandel-Antik Vintage, a 1,300 m(that’s nearly 14,000 sq. ft.) treasure trove of vintage goods. Here you’ll find everything from antique suitcases to Art Deco lamps – some of which have even been used as props in hit Hollywood films. For women’s fashion and home goods, visit Four Seasons Lifestyle, Hab + Gut and Romantiklabor. Last but not least, check out Modlord, a cool clothing store with a great selection of fashion and accessories by British labels, both big and small.

3. Delicious Food

In Unterbilk, you’ll never be more than a few steps from a great restaurant. On Lorettostrasse, there’s the cool but comfortable k Restaurant and just down the street D’Vine serves great dishes paired with one of Düsseldorf’s best wine selections. Another hotspot is Adjito, a hip Japanese fusion restaurant. The dark, artsy interior sets the stage for the creative cuisine & cocktails.

But your choices don’t end there. Nearby Richie ‘n Rose serves up premium burgers, BaByQ crafts its American-style BBQ and Frida Tapasbar offers a popular drink & dinner menu. And let’s not forget about desert! Be sure to stop by Chocolaterie bittersüß & edelweiß for their handmade chocolate truffles. Our favorite flavors are Bailey’s, nougat, raspberry & rosemary.

4. Three Great Events Every Year

Though any time is a good time to visit, be sure to mark your calendar for the big three neighborhood events in Unterbilk: Frühlingserwachen (“spring awakening”), Midsummer and Indian Summer. These events feature night shopping and a great atmosphere thanks to the large. Loretto360Grad, a neighborhood organization which is also a great resource (German language only) for info on the area too.

5. Walking Tour: From Lorettostrasse to the Habor

Unterbilk is a perfect neighborhood to explore, whether on foot or by bicycle. For a relaxing afternoon, head here on a Tuesday or Friday, grab some food from the farmer’s market at Friedensplätzchen, then head to Flora Park for a picnic.

How to get here: From the city center it’s about 10 minutes to Bilker Kirche, which makes a great starting point for exploring the neighborhood. From here, you can stroll Lorettostraße and the surrounding streets. On clear days, head to the harbor for a spectacular sunset before heading home.
